Best steelhead creek in Pennsylvania (my opinion). Fishable from McKean, through Girard, right to Lake Erie. Many miles of water to fish. Uncrowded in its middle, can get "crowded" from Girard down...especially the holes.
Good spots for Steelhead from November through April: Rt. 5 tunnel area, Railroad tubes about a mile north of Rt. 5, Whitmans Bridge near Girard High School, beneath the railroad trussel a half mile above Whitman's Bridge, Girard Park, the VFW hole, Rt. 98 Bridge and down, the big hole near McKean by Interstate 79.
The mouth of the creek is accessable off Rt. 5 with parking, restrooms and small boat launch. |
